Prof. Steil's research interests focus on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and related mental health conditions, particularly in children, adolescents, and refugees. Her recent studies investigate the effectiveness of various psychological interventions in treating PTSD and related conditions. She also works on developing new tools for diagnosing and assessing the severity of complex PTSD and investigating the role of attachment in the outcome of trauma-focused interventions. Additionally, her research examines the preferences of trauma survivors for different treatment approaches and the impact of childhood abuse on partner preferences in women with PTSD.
