Prof. Stangier is a Professor of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, and the Head of the Center for Psychotherapy, as well as the training program for Psychological Psychotherapy at Goethe University Frankfurt. He has conducted RCTs related to social anxiety disorder, recurrent and chronic depression, body dysmorphic disorder and mental disorders in refugees. His current interest focuses on meditation in psychotherapy, digital skills of psychotherapists and process based therapy.
