Prof.  Pané-Farré investigates the function and dysfunction (psychopathology) of the human defense system. Defensive mobilization is triggered when anticipating or confronting threat. Using experimental approaches and psychophysiological techniques (startle reflex EMG, autonomic arousal patterns, respiration, EEG, fMRI), Christiane examines defensive mobilization in healthy individuals, at-risk populations, and patients with mental disorders (particularly anxiety disorders). The focus is to shed light on the etiology, prevention, and intervention of increased defensive mobilization in psychological disorders.
