Prof. Hofmann is a Alexander von Humboldt professor for clinical psychology in Marburg, funded also by the LOEWE initiative. Stefan is interested in several areas of psychological research, including the effectiveness of psychological treatments, the translation of basic neuroscientific knowledge into clinical techniques, culture-specific expressions of mental disorders, emotion regulation strategies' effects, and the psychopathology of social anxiety disorder. His main research questions involve exploring the mechanisms of treatment change, dismantling the active ingredients of different psychotherapies, making psychological therapy more culture sensitive and enabling the development of tailored treatment options. Since 2012, Stefan serves as the editor in chief of the journal cognitive therapy and research.
